- Brian Harrison of Imperial Sugar Company received the Crystal Award.
- The Mead Award for the 2009 Technical Congress was presented to Barbara Muir, SMRI, and Gillian Eggleston, USDA-ARS-SRRC, for the paper "Factory Trials to Determine How Sugarcane Trash Impacts Downstream Processing Including Affinated Sugar Production".
- The Frank Chapman Award for the 2009 Technical Congress was presented to Gillian Eggleston, USDA-ARS-SRRC, and Belisario Montes, Alma Plantation LLC, for the best poster "Optimization of Amylase Applications in Raw Sugar Manufacture that Directly Concerns Refiners".
- An Honorary Life Time certificate was presented to Leon A. Anhaiser at the 2009 Technical Congress for ten years of service to S.I.T. as Executive Director.
