• Donald Ryan was elected President of S.I.T. for 2008 - 2009 at the Annual Technical Congress held in Leipzig, Germany.
• Applications for Technical Papers and Posters for the S. I. T. Technical Conference to be held April 5 – 8, 2009, in New Delhi, India, are being accepted by Program Chairman .
• Jeffrey Robinson of American Sugar Refining Inc. received the Crystal Award.
• The Meade Award for the 2007 Technical Congress was presented to Arno Jansen, Schaffer and Associates, and Malcolm Wade, United States Sugar Corporation, for the paper "Fast Track Implementation of One of the World's Largest and Most complex Sugar Factory Projects".
• The Frank Chapman Award for the 2007 Technical Congress was presented to Matthieu Lafrance and Jean Leblanc, Lantic Sugar and Francis Gula and Xavier Lancrenon, Applexion/Novasep for the best poster "Progress Replacement of Bone Char Decolorization by Resins Decolorization at Lantic Sugar Refinery".
• The next Executive Committee meeting will be held in Montreal, Canada, on September 28, 2008, at 9:30 A.M.
• The next Board of Directors Meeting will be held in New Delhi, India, April 5, 2009.
